Vallium addiction following a widom teeth surgery?

On friday july 20th i had a wisdom tooth extraction and a few days later i developed dry socket and could not sleep for 2 days, i went to my doctor because i was geting anxiety almost always at night never during the day... this past thursday night, friday night, saturday night , and sunday night i have taken a 5mg tablet of vallium to help me sleep, there were 20 pills given to me to be taken every 8 hours as needed but im just needing them at night.... there are 16 pills left, if i keep doing this trend how long until i would become addicted.... i suspect most of the heavy anxiety is because i cannot smoke for a little while in order to let my mouth heal from the surgery. on friday july 20th i got the 4 non impacted wisdom teeth pulled, that tuesday i had a "partial" dry socket so i havent been smoking and now its monday and all though he told me today its safe to smoke i dont know if it really is i dont want to go threw the dry socket pain again, i do hope to start smoking in a week.

I have never heard of a dentist prescribing that many Valium for dental anxiety. It is meant to be a temporary solution to help people remain calm before, during, and just after dental visits.

Valium is not indicated as a sleep aid. If you are having trouble sleeping, you should treat the cause - is it pain?

If you have been free of smoking since July 20, you are almost there! Why not stick it out a few days and see if you can quit entirely. This is a great opportunity to make a change that could add years and quality to your life.
