Lump in cheek 6 weeks after Wisdom Tooth Surgery?

I got my two bottom impacted wisdom teeth out over 6 weeks ago. The surgery was harrowing but I had no pain afterwards and swelling only lasted a little over a week. Last night I went to bed feeling a little bit of tenderness in my left wisdom tooth area and awoke today with a small, hardish lump in my cheek and swelling on my left side. I scheduled a dentist appointment, but I'm freaking out, does anybody know what this is and if it will go away?

Maybe you just bit on your cheek while chewing.

Don't freak out, but it is good to have your lump checked by a dentist.

Reply:u might have dry socket or somthing ask ur doctor but it should go away
Reply:Go to the E.R. Never try to diagnose or treat yourself
Reply:sounds like you have an abcess you should seek medical attention right away abcess can lead to death
Reply:It's good you're going to the dentist. It might be an infection. If it is, they will probably just rinse out the infected area and prescribe antibiotics.

"Swelling that re-appears after a few weeks is an indication of infection caused by a bone or tooth fragment still in the wound and should be treated immediately."
