I am having my four wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I have a couple of questions.?

I have four impacted teeth. My bottom two are horizontally impacted. The doctor said he will be giving me novacaine and an iv. He said the IV does NOT make you totally unconscious and is used in addition to the novacaine. Should I be worried? What will I be able to feel? WIll I know where I am? How long will it take?

I am having my four wisdom teeth out tomorrow and I have a couple of questions.?
I had mine taken out in June of this year. The oral surgeon used IV sedation and I was out cold for 35 minutes. I felt nothing that day. I was very swollen and sore the next couple of days, but they gave me Lortab for the pain. I was actually supposed to have had them taken out 3 years ago, but I chickened out. I'm glad I had it done though. I don't regret it at all! Don't worry, with the novacaine and IV, you won't feel a thing. When you come to, you'll know where you are. Don't chicken out like I did! It's really no big deal! Good luck! You'll be able to return Tuesday
Reply:you're not gonna be able to feel anything. unless you're allergic to your meds (pain or antibiotic), you'll be fine to go back on tuesday.
Reply:You should really get him to clarify this stuff for you to your satisfaction. In my experience, I don't see how a person could do too well having any awareness of the hammering they have to do to get the impacted teeth out of your jaw. They must be broken to get them out in many cases. I was pretty gone for my extraction.

They will likely wait to inject the novacaine until you are relaxed with the IV. Nowadays the docs use smaller needles and are VERY smooth giving those injections - you hardly know they are doing it.

It may take a a couple of hours, maybe less. Usually no reason to be worried.
Reply:Always have your wisdom teeth removed by a specialist oral %26amp; Maxillofacial surgeon.
