I had my two bottom wisdom teeth cut out over a week ago, on the side where it was impacted the surgeon made..

an incision that ran along where the inside of my cheek meets the gum. Is that normal? I don't know anything about it. There is still a hole (or incision type hole) about 1/4 - 1/2 inch I would say. I thought usually they only cut the gum. Will my cheek reattach itself to the gum? And does anyone know approx. how long it takes to heal shut? The other side still has a bit of your typical extraction type hole. I know everyone heals at different rates, I just kind of wanted a ball park amount of time. I probably being overly cautious but I am still eating soft foods like pudding, applesauce, ect. I am a worry wart... could somebody ease my mind please? :)

Poor dear, i just got my done not long ago maybe two months or so ago. I suggest baby foods and applesauce, pudding, soups. NO BANANA it hurts so bad to eat anything that is or has banana flavor. I had same thing they cut my bottom 2 wisdoms out and hurt after wards. I was crying from the anestegia or however spelled cause i was so sleepy.

The gum will heal back on its own. I got foods stuck in there all the time. You may even have little bone shards coming out from back there and sucks cause it so hard to get bone fragments out that are still back there. If you want i suggest drinking water.

If you smoke, put wet cotton balls over the areas where holes are so it does not dry up and bleed cause that is how dry socket occurs which usually happens no matter what.

Take your pain meds as needed, dont drink alchohol or suck the area of extrication...........I was trying to see around net on average time to heal but came with wikipedia which is helpful you may want to check it out cause it explains things more in depth on dry socket, swellings, etx

Healing though, teenagers heal faster and is recommended to get them out at 13/14 years old and as late as 18 years old for the fastest healing times. And really depends on whether just your normal dentist do it or did you have to go to a specialist to remove them. But usually around 2-3 weeks you will feel better and feel nothing is wrong but need to stay home, sleep and relax. O ice helps alot. I took bags of peas and corn, put them in a hoodie with tiestrings and set them in there and lay down with them tied in.
