Wisdom teeth extracted and stitches removed, but there's a hole near my cheek and gum, should I be worried?

I had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago and my bottom right one was the only one that was impacted. The doctor had to cut my gums open and remove the tooth so I had to get stitches. Well I just had the stitches removed today and when I got home I realized that there was a hole in the back side of my mouth where the stitches were. When I open my mouth a little hole forms in the back so it literally looks like there's a hole in the inside of my cheek. Should I be worried and see the doctor to have him look at it or will this hole go away on it's own? I'm worried about food getting stuck in there too and causing an infection. Any suggestions?

nothing to worry ! Remember there was a whole molar inside ! it would definitely take some time to heal.. Keep the area clean and rinse thouroughly after every meal. It would close down in about a month or so. Do not bother to see your dentist again for this unless it gets infected ( whic wouldnt happen if you keep the area clean and use the other side of your mouth for chewing )
Reply:The best thing to do is call you doctor, explain your situation. They may tell you to come in and get it checked, or just not worry about it because its no big deal. Good luck.
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth removed, 2 were very impacted. However, I never experienced what you're speaking of. I think you should contact your doctor.
Reply:I had a tooth pulled about a month ago, it left a very large hole.

It took about three weeks for this hole to close over and I just didn't eat anything on that side of my mouth. I kept it rinsed with salt water and peroxide until it healed over, and I didn't have any problems keeping the food out of it because I rinsed after every meal or snack for awhile.

Give it time, it's an injury, but your mouth has amazing healing properties.
