Pain from wisdom teeth 6 years later?

I had my wisdom teeth extracted 6 years ago (they were still impacted so it was more a surgery than extraction). Sometimes the scar tissue - where the stiches were - still hurts! It's almost like it's infected or something. It will swell occasionally then go down and hurt when I brush my teeth... What could this be?

You should not be experiencing any pain if they were removed 6 years ago. There is probably something else going on. It sounds like a periodontal pocket behind your back molar. These pockets trap food and bacteria and can swell and then go down. Try flossing to keep that area clean and listerine. I hope this helps.
Reply:It could be the tooth nearby that one that is giving you problems. Have you been to the dentist and had xrays to make sure.
Reply:Do you have sinus problems? It can inflame the nerves of your teeth.
Reply:I agree with the first answer. Also, if you grined your teeth, a lot of ppl do it at night or in stressful situations and don't know it, you can irritate the nerves. I find myself grinding my teeth when I drive and sleep. It can give you bad head aches and cause tooth aches, expecially in the back. I get pain where my wisdom teeth used to be too. I get a piece of hard candy so I won't grind.

ps chewing A LOT of gum can cause irritation too.
Reply:Consult a doctor or dentist.
