Is it weird that i'm actually excited about getting my wisdom teeth out?

I know some people say they wish they didn't have to get it done, but I am sooooo thankful that I finally get it done. For the past 6 months, i've been in pain...literally in tears because of my wisdom teeth. Now, I get to have them out in two weeks. Two are impacted at the bottom, and they hurt very badly. I haven't even gotten a whole nights sleep in weeks. For those who have had it done, would you recommend getting all four out at the same time, or just two at a time? Also, any advice on how to deal with the pain afterwards? I might be wrong, but I truly cannot imagine that the pain after oral surgery can be worst than it was before.... It just can't be. lol Any advice on how to have a short recovery, and little pain after surgery? Thank you!

You might as well get them all out at once - I didn't so I had to go through the surgery twice.

Make sure you follow all the instructions the dentist or surgeon gives you - like no drinking through a straw for the first few days afterwards, etc.

With my first set (the two top ones) everything was a breeze. They didn't knock me out, but it still wasn't bad. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and it was gone within a few days to a week anyway. The two bottom teeth were another story - but I won't scare you with that. I was an exceptional case, most people have no problems at all!
Reply:WELL, I HAVEN'T HAD THEM TAKEN OUT, BUT I HAVE BEENTHERE FOR THE RECOVERY OF TWO VERY CLOSE PEOPLE!! MY HUBBY, WHO JUST HAD 3 TAKEN OUT ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO AND HAS BEEN FULLY RECOVERED FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS. AND MY SISTER WHO HAD HERS TAKEN OUT ABOUT 3 YRS AGO AND FULLY RECOVERED IN A WEEK AS WELL. I SUGGEST FOLLOWING ALL THE GUIDELINES THE DENTIST GIVES YOU FOR THE BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY..... TAKE ALL THE MEDS THEY GIVE YOU AT THE TIMES YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO. MAKE SURE THAT YOU LET THE DENTIST KNOW THAT YOU NEED MORE ANISTHETICS IF YOU BEGIN TO FEEL PAIN DURING THE SURGERY. YOU SHOULD BE JUST FINE BY THE NEXT DAY, A LIL SORE BUT YOU'LL LIVE!!! GOOD LUCK!! OH MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU TO %26amp; FROM THE SURGERY... YOU'LL BE A LIL KNOCKED OUT AFTERWARDS!!!LOL!!!
Reply:I too was GLAD to have them gone! Good riddance!!! They were too far back to clean effectively and one became painful.

To control post-op pain, bruising and swelling, put an ice pack on your face, 10 minutes on, 10 off, for 1 1/2 hours. Take Advil for pain if required. It contains an anti-inflammatory.

Get all 4 out at once. Why go through the process twice? Some dentists book them 2 at a time just in case you don't show up! A missed appointment is lost revenue for the dentist. An appointment for the removal of 2 teeth is SHORTER than for 4 teeth. The dentist loses less revenue if you were only booked for 2. It is absolutely of NO BENEFIT to YOU to do 2 per visit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the removal of your teeth goes without complication, it is HIGHLY likely that you can be back on your feet later in the day, certainly the next day.

There is NO pain during surgery. You will be completely frozen. You might be given sedation as well.
