had all my wisdom teeth pulled 2 weeks ago, my question is when will those holes be filled in with gums? i went to my surgeon today and he said give it another week, im skeptical because alot of people here say it takes SIX MONTHS.... i should add that mine were an easy pull they were NOT impacted he didnt have to cut any thing he just yanked em out... reason i ask is i want to wait until the holes completley heal and are replaced by gum so i can start smoking again.....
Wisdom teeth questionzz?
mine took about 6 weeks.
Don't smoke, it's not healthy.
Reply:mine took at least 4 weeks to completely heal...so annoying
Reply:My friend smoked the same day she got em pulled
Reply:It does not take six months for the gums to heal; it doesn't happen in a matter of days, obviously, but mine took about maybe 2 months to completely heal. And one hole was HUGE. They had to remove a piece of my jawbone with my tooth because the tooth was impacted in my jaw. Don't sweat it. Just be patient, and they'll heal sooner than you would think.
Reply:I just had mine pulled out about a month ago. It takes two to three weeks for gums to grow over the holes, but it takes up to six months for the holes to be completely filled in by bone.
In other words you will be completely healed in six months, but you can probably start smoking before that. As to exactly when I dont really know. Your surgeon would probably be the best person to ask.
Reply:The time it takes for your gum to heal completely after an extraction depends onyour bodies condition.
Take a bit of advice from someone who smoked for more than 20 years. Use this opportunity to drop the habit. Not only is it bad for your health, it is bad for your wallet. Smokes cost around $3.00 US where I live. If you don't smoke a pack a day, you will save over $1000.00 in the first year.
Reply:It tkaes three months for the holes to actually fill in. You need to clean the actual holes out with a syringe to prevent food impaction. If you leave stagnant food in the holes, then they will never fill in at all, and it becomes a very long term issue.
Reply:f.y.i. keep thoose sockets free from food debris, rinse with salt and warm water lightly till clots look less red, be concious of any swelling of tissue or odor,if you notice either of these it could be an indication of infection get checked
