I have to have my wisdom teeth removed because they appear to be impacted.. Despite the fact that they are biggier then they should be, I feel I should question my dentist because they don't give me any pain and i brush every day. When should i have it done? I'm deathly afraid of needles and all i can think about is that huge syrigne they stick in you... Is their a easier way to do it?
Ouch! About pulling wisdom teeth?
Ask to be put to sleep. I had mine out, oh, ten years ago and I don't remember a thing. You'll be asleep before you even see a needle. I had mine done by an oral surgeon. You'll be given pain meds to take afterwards and here's my biggest tip....after you get home put ice packs or bags of frozen peas on your cheeks for 20 minutes every hour or the swelling will make you look like a chipmunk! It's not that bad, I'm a wimp, too.
Reply:I have only one that is impacted, but I am 34 and still have it and it has never given me any trouble. Report It
Reply:Tell them to knock you out. I had My wisdom teeth taken out while having chin surgery at the same time. If your too messed up about it, tell them to knock you out, or laughing gas
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth pulled because they were impacted but I was getting braces at the time and when your wisdom teeth grow in they tend to push your other teeth around. All I remember about it was that it really sucked ***. It was painful and I recall that I was in bed for about 4 days. This was years ago. But I believe that the only way to remove them is by actually making the incision and pulling them out. Then they stitch it back up and put this packing back there. Sorry, it is painful, or at least it was for me.
Reply:I had mine (all 4) removed when I was in high school, even though they were not bothering me at the time. They can cause trouble later on. When they are impacted, they will push against your teeth and can cause pain and cause your teeth to become crooked.
When I had them removed, I had gas, novacaine (injected in my mouth) and an IV in my arm. I was out cold.
The next day, I took one pain killer once and that was it, I was fine the rest of the time while things healed.
Reply:I had to have 4 molars removed at the same time before I got my braces. It's not wisdom teeth but probably a similar procedure. The needle part wasn't too scary, just close your eyes and think of something else, it feels like he is poking your gums for like, half a second then there is no pain. Just make sure he has enough anesthetic in there before he pulls. The first tooth he did for me hurt like hell because he didn't put enough in. After he increased the dose though, it was nothing. When it was over my mouth didn't even hurt too bad. Good luck!
