I had 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out on friday (about 4 days ago). The oral surgeon said that the bottom one was very difficult to remove because it was severly impacted. The problem that I am having now is that I am still in pain, my jaw is still swollen, and I still kind of feel numb. I had the other two out on the other side about a year ago..but I don't remember pain like this. I went back to the oral surgeon yesterday and he told me that it was normal to be experiencing pain, but it should be slowly going away...but it really isnt. is this normal?
Wisdom teeth pain..?
You may have dry socket. If you look into your mouth, you may see a hole in your gum. Other than that I hate to say, make another appointment with your oral surgeon, or your dentist.
Reply:use an ice pack for pain relief. I would give it a few more days, if the pain does not subside by then, go back to your oral surgeon. You may have an infection brewing in there.
good luck
Reply:Sounds like dry socket, go back and see your doc.
Reply:I think it is normal, esp. if they were impacted! Thats scary though, I go get mine out next month :-(
Reply:You better go back to your surgeon and ask him about the pain you are experiencing. You are the one that suffers from the pain your wisdom teeth had brought you. Your surgeon or dentist knows better what relief or exact medication that best applies for it. You may use OraMD for your "at home" medication if there is any oral problem that bothers you.
