i have an impacted lower wisdom tooth which is pure agony tonight. its growing into my cheek area. nothing takes the pain away and i have all night to go yet!
tablets dont work, bonjela doesnt and clove oil doesnt. help!!! what can i put on it or take tonight that will ease the pain and help me sleep.
Wisdom tooth agony hell. help me!!!?
i am not going to give here any better answers than what you probably have read so far, but I guess I am going to give a list of possible TODO's to hit the night of the pain.
NO MATTER WHAT YOU MUST VISIT A DENTIST AS SOON AS YOU GET A CHANCE AND HAVE THOSE SUCKERS REMOVED.
1. take pain killers like Ibuprofen (dont take a overdose) to try and reduce the pain.and get some sleep.
2. apply franch oil and massage aroud the area where you have pain.
3. give hot watter pressing on the pain inflicted area.
4. If you can open your jaw brush your teeth and gargle prefarable once or twice with a mouthwash like Listerine.
5. if you have already had an episode of the pain be wise to get the antibiotic prescribed from the dentist and keep it with you in case of another episode before you have gotten a chance to have it extracted.
6. sleep with your head elevated on two pilows and sleep on the side opposite to your pain.
7. do not allow any saliva. to rinse the gums always spit it out and have a container close to your bed filled with water so you spit out in it.
8. drink water as often as you can if you are feeling thirsty.
GET TO YOUR DENTIST FIRST THING IN THE MORNING EVEN IF THE PAIN HAS SUBSIDED :)
Reply:pull
Reply:I don't know about tonight, but tomorrow you should call your dentist. Get those suckers out!
Reply:gargle salty water
Reply:I have heard that neat Brandy is supposed to help, failing that you need to take a strong painkiller
Reply:i suggest you go to the dentist --asap!
have your dentist check on it,maybe take x-ray.
your dentist may have to prescribe a stronger painkiller AND antibiotic -- and have it extracted !
Reply:when I had an impacted tooth, it was pre heck!! I used to use a heating pad, on medium, and 2 IBProphen to reduce swelling. I also called my Dr, and asked him to call in something for more severe pain.
If that doesnt work, try some nyquil, it will put you to sleep fassttt. Good luck!
Reply:its impacted so topical rub on cures arent going to do a thing, take tablet painkillers and try a hot compress, (a hotwaterbottle wrapped in a towel).
Hope it helps, my wisdom tooth is still in my jaw 20 years since it first reared its head on a checkup xray, never had a twinge from it. When my first gold crown fell off i thought i was going to die though.
Reply:have you tried to crunch a paracetamol into it%26gt;? give it a try! just one though don't overdose.
Reply:You will need to get that removed, which may have to be done under a general anaesthetic. See your dentist first thing tomorrow, if he cant arrange for it to be done soon, he will manage to prescribe you pain relief and maybe an antibiotic as it may be causing an abscess as well. That happened to me a few years back, I feel for you as nothing seems to help no matter what you do.
Reply:Go to the Dental hospital tomorrow morning, meanwhile get hold of your GP mobile and get some serious painkillers
Reply:Being going through it on and off for months. Too scared of dentist to get it out! Gargle salt and water. The pain is caused by gunk stuck under the wobbly gum bit. Something like an antihistamine to make you sleepy and a hot water bottle to lie on will get you through tonight. And get painkillers from doctor tomorrow to get you through.
Reply:Heating pads or an ice pack may help. pain killers work best before the pain starts. If that doesn't work, get drunk.
Reply:Assuming you have an appointment tomorrow for removal, I would prescribe a glass with 4 crushed 200mg Motrin in the bottom and about 3 shots of very hard liquor mixed in. Repeat as needed.
Sure hope you feel better soon
Reply:Aghh, i feel for you there is nothing worse than a tooth ache. I am suprised clove oil hasnt helped, however it only helps for a short while.I would say see your dentist in the morning, if possible. Try to sleep with a hot water bottle tonight, although they say dont becouse sometimes this makes the problem worse, but it will help in the meantime until you see your dentist. Good Luck, poor you, xx
Reply:Must extract at once. There is no other cure.
Reply:I would try packing it out with cotton wool soaked in freezing water, really make your cheek stand away from the tooth...you will look a bit like a hamster tonight but it'll stop it pressing and the cold will soothe the pain....hope you get better :)
Reply:You should get on the phone now and ring your dentist, listen to the message and they should give a phone number to your local emergency dentist, ring there and tell them you cant put up with the pain any longer, and they should be able get you in in,because its an emergency i dont think you after pay either,i know how you feel i dont think theres any pain worse than toothache.good luck
Reply:Get to the dentist for god's sake. The hour or so of pain to get the dam thing pulled is better than the agony you're going through now!! Been there - on 4 occasions!!
Reply:vicodin and beer will help until you can have tooth extracted.
Reply:In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, try cold compresses. Sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.
Reply:Rotate ibuprofen every 2-3 hrs with extra strength Tylenol (Tylenol pm at night).....but make sure you aren't allergic to any of these over the counter pain meds first. Salt water rinses work well too. Topical numbing meds like oragel can give relief too. Then get into that dentists office tomorrow asap so they can send you to an oral surgeon.
Reply:Orajel;icepack, dentist.I feel for you.Hope you feel better.
Reply:you need a dentist to take it out only solution im afraid
Reply:I have the same problem. Is the tooth infected or have pus coming out of it? If this is the case then try putting hot water on a piece of kitchen paper or gauze and place it over the tooth to draw out any pus.
The best painkiller for toothache is ibuprofen and co-codamol, you can either take these seperately or together.
Another thing which is very good is anbesol liquid, you will get it at your chemist, its the same idea as bonjela but a lot stronger.
Reply:Maybe try Advil PM or Advil (regular) to help with the inflammation while it is breaking through. Then schedule to see the dentist for them to check the tooth. You may need it extracted. Good luck!! I hope it feels better.
Reply:Strong pain killers, salt rinse and see your dentist tomorrow, you probably need to extract it .
Reply:get it pulled.
