Reply:That's why they give you pain killers....take them...........
Reply:Have you been doing the salt water rinse? If it starts to hurt a lot or you get a fever, you may have an infection or dry socket. But if it is just hurting a little and it's only day two...then take the pain killers they should have prescribed, and call the oral surgeon if those don't make the pain go away.
Reply:Rinse with tepid salt water...I KNOW they told you to that, and it really, really helps. (I had all four pulled in my teens)
Reply:It could be jaw pain radiating down into your throat, but if I were you, I'd call my dentist and ask to be sure.
Reply:I had that done sseveral years ago. it was a good week before i could eat solid food. If the pain is in your throat it may be the begining of an infection. if it is n your tooth/jaw, then its most likely just tender. If they gave you antibiotics, make sure you take them. My GF died about 6 years ago from an infection from dental surgery. it can be serious.
Reply:The pain in swallowing is usually due to swelling. If it's the second day they usually recommend that you switch from ice to heat on it to keep it from stiffening up. The pain will start to subside within the next couple of days. Usually the swelling peaks around the third or fourth day, and after that it improves pretty rapidly. It's a matter of patience, and remember to take your antibiotics and painkillers regularly! It'll help you sleep and will certainly dull the pain.
Reply:It's supposed to hurt... they had to shatter 2 of my wisdom teeth when they pulled all 4 of mine out in the same day. They give you prescription pain killers like hydrocodone. Take them as suggested and you should be fine. I slept through most of the next 2 days after mine were pulled. Don't put an ice pack on it, let it heal naturally.
Reply:huney, it takes 2 weeks until you'll feel like yourself again. until then your pain medication (or ibuprofen) will be your best friend, along with popsicles. my uncle in law is a maliciofacial surgeon and he recommended my fiance to put tea bags over the surgical area to reduce pain and swelling. it works!
Reply:i pray for you to become okay
