I work as a clerk at a drycleaner/tailor and I am speaking 98% of my day.
I need to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, they are partially impacted. Should I take time out of work?
Yes. Take time off around your days off. Four or five days will be fine. It'll give you time for the stiffness to go away and you'll be good to go. I had mine removed and I worked front desk for a dental office and I was fine after 4 days off. GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:If you have all 4 of them out at once, take a few days off. It will put you on your @ss for a few days, takes more than a week to eat semi-solid food comfortably.
Reply:YES. THE DAY OF %26amp; THE DAY AFTER. IF NEED TO BE,ASK THE DENTAL RECEPTIONIST IF YOU CAN SCHEDULE THIS PROCEDURE ON ON A DAY THAT YOU HAVE THE NEXT 2 DAYS OFF.
Reply:As someone who had all four of his wisdom teeth out at one time, yes. If you have it done on a Friday you could take Monday off, and that would give you almost four days. The mouth heals fast, but most people don't realize how major a surgery this really is, when all four come out at once.
Reply:yes.
Reply:I took 5 days over a long weekend when mine were done. Since I was one narcotic painkillers (yep hurt like hell and made the pain feel BETTER) I couldn't work anyway so I took FLMA.
The hardest thing will be sleeping, you will need some good painkillers to sleep. You will not be very hungry either...
Reply:I would take off a few days, Milk it! The boss will understand. You will be miserable for a few days. The doctor will give you an excuse slip if you need one.
Reply:I had mine out and was laid up for a week. But another person had his out the same day and went to work the next day with no ill effects. It depends on the individual. So PLAN to be off for 3 days. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones. Hope so. Good luck.
Reply:You'll either have to be totally sedated or just have a local anaesthetic, but that will make you 'impaired' too. Have someone drive you home afterwards. And you will feel terrible for a few days, your mouth will be sore and eating will be painful. Have some liquid meal replacement drinks handy but do NOT drink out of a straw. Have an informative talk with your surgeon.
Reply:YES YES YES !!!! If you are getting them done on the same day, dont be a fool like I was. I thought I was a "real woman" ha ha boy was I wrong! take at least 3 days , because your mouth will be sore, and try to say cool for some reason I felt better. and don't be alarmed if you have a headache, mine was worse at night. What ever you do GOOD LUCK!
Reply:You will definitely need a few days off as your mouth will hurt a lot for a few days (the doc will give you meds) and you will be on soft foods like pudding and mashed potatoes for a few days. You will find yourself napping a lot. My operation cost about $1500 and I had to pay about $300 after insurance. Well worth it though.
Reply:I had 4 out that were impacted, and it took a good week for me to get back to normal. You definitely should take a week off. You won't feel good after it's done. Good luck. Not to mention, you'll be swollen also.
Reply:unless you are very lucky you are going to have some discomfort and bleeding, if you spend most of your day talking this is going to aggrevate the condition, try and schedule the removal for a day before the weekend when hopefully you will be out of work and have at least 2 days to get over it
Reply:As many others have said, try and schedule it over a weekend. I did and I was back to work Monday with no major issues. I was a telephone operator at the time so speaking was fairly important to me at the time too. Just be 100% sure to follow all the advice you are given by your dentist/surgeon. If you use tobacco...this is a great time to quit because after the surgery you can't use it for a while or you'll get dry socket I think it's called. Had a buddy get that...it's not fun. Aside from that it's not really that big a deal.
Reply:yea definately a few days....the first few days you will have gauze in your mouth (probably) so that will make it even harder to talk.
Reply:I had the same problem, when I had mine taken out it wasn't pain that was the problem but the lack of ability to open my mouth. My speach was affected. I would suggest doing it on a friday morning and taking Monday off of work. Take the rest of the week kind of easy and let your mouth heal.
